The only Hippogryph we've seen is from a Reader Question, and all that is known is that they are rarer then gryphons.
According to mythology, the Hippogryph was the offspring of a mare and a gryphon. On some accounts, it was said to be strong and fast flier, able to fly around the world and to the moon. It was also thought of to be a symbol of love, considering the hippogryphs parents were natural enemies.
It was first used by Latin poet Publius Vergilius Maro in his work The Eclogues. The creature was also made popular by famous Italian poet Ludovico Ariosto and was used in his poem Orlando Furioso.
